Simpson Housing Shelter

The junior class at Wayzata Community Church in Wayzata, Minnesota has worked with Simpson Housing Shelter as part of the Six Billion Paths to Peace and service study and action. The class Path to Peace was to learn about local homelessness and meet the needs of people experiencing homelessness.  Simpson Housing is a Minneapolis shelter that provides shelter, support, and advocacy for people experiencing homelessness. 10,000 people are homeless every night in Minnesota. In December the students participated in a march organized by Simpson Housing to heighten awareness of homelessness in Minnesota. Students then began a collection of personal products such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and towels; these items were on the request list of the shelter. In May the students and their teachers delivered two carloads of these toiletry items to Simpson Housing, learned more about local homelessness and received a tour of the facility. Thank you SEF for encouraging our compassion with the Six Billion Paths to Peace program.
