Fellows

Students from leading universities across the country are invited to join the Shinnyo-en Foundation’s peace initiative, Six Billions Paths to Peace ). Whether they participate in the Summer Intern Program, Summer Fellows Program or Shinnyo Fellows Program, students bring alive the Six Billion Paths to Peace initiative in various ways as they impact their campus, local, national, and global communities.

Summer Interns work in the Shinnyo-en Foundation office during the summer and develop a deeper understanding of philanthropy as it relates to peace and service. Interns support program staff day-to-day in work on conferences, presentations, workshops and retreats.

Summer Fellows either work in the Shinnyo-en Foundation office or in offices that provide opportunities to learn more about peace and service on their campuses over the summer. These students gain exposure to the day-to-day work of their summer host organization. Through their work, students develop valuable professional skills and experience first hand best practices of peace through service.

Shinnyo Fellows receive year-long stipends to introduce, implement and/or institutionalize the Six Billion Paths to Peace project on their university campuses and/or the communities of their choice. To achieve the goal, Fellows design and pilot their own peace and service projects in the Fellows’ chosen areas with the support of faculty or a staff advisor on campus. Both undergraduate and graduate students from diverse disciplines and backgrounds have participated in Shinnyo Fellows Program. The Fellows receive leadership training, individual and group guidance, and have the opportunity to connect with other youth, faculty and national leaders in this field.
