Recent Grants

Our Board of Directors most recently approved the following grants:

 

Burlingame High School

$8,000 for over one year, to support Burlingame High School and their second Camp Everytown experience. Camp Everytown is an intensive, transformative youth leadership development program that seeks to break down prejudices and attitudes of discrimination.

Burlingame Historical Society

$10,000 for over one year, to support the Burlingame Centennial Book, a beautiful book to share with the community. This includes the history of Burlingame as well as some of the notable people, organizations and facts throughout the city's 100 years.

Friends for Youth

$1,000 for over one year, to support the Friends for Youth mentoring programs for children. Their two programs provide quality mentoring for youth by volunteers committed to serve as a positive role model. The second program serves at-risk youths and provides support to encourage  personal development and to provide new experiences and activities in the areas of recreation, life skills, learning/academics and community service.

Human Investment Project

$1,000 for over one year, to support the Human Investment Project’s information and referral services, which assist with the lack of access to affordable housing in the San Mateo County community. The self-sufficiency program provides families with housing support while the parent obtains education, job training, and finds employment.

Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center

$30,000 for over one year, to support the fifth annual Palestinian – Jewish Peacemakers Camp, which will be held on October 5-8, 2007 near Yosemite National Park.  This project originates from the Jewish-Palestinian Livingroom Dialogue, a fifteen-year project created by Len and Libby Traubman.  The camp brings Jewish and Palestinian youth and adults together to share, reflect, dialogue and resolve - creating a public peace process model.

 

Reuben Martinez Literary Enrichment Achievement Plus Program

$5,000 for one year, to support literacy in underserved and underrepresented communities of Orange County, California.

Los Angeles Catholic Workers

$25,000 for one year, to support the community programs for the needy in the greater Los Angeles community.

Artists for A New South Africa

$25,000 for one year, to support the programs combating the AIDS epidemic, democracy and equality in South Africa, in addition to promoting civil rights and safeguarding the voting rights of those in the United States.
